The anime series consist of Danganronpa: The Animation and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School.

As intense as the world of Danganronpa can be, there is certainly at least a small want to have it brought to life. There is a way to do this without it resulting in a spree of killings thankfully: Cosplay. In this article we present to you 10 best characters from Danganronpa to Cosplay.

10 Danganronpa Cosplay Ideas

What should you go for? Danganronpa has a great roster of characters and it can be hard to pick one. We suggest you find a balance and pick a character that you like and who has a look that isn’t too difficult to replicate. Here are some suggestions:

Makoto Naegi

Talking about the protagonist is a good way to start of this list. Do you feel like you relate to Makoto Naegi the most? If sometimes you feel ordinary and sometimes you can be overly positive at a funeral, then this cosplay idea is for you. Luckily, turning into the Ultimate Lucky Student is as simple as one two three. Wear an olive-green hoodie and a black blazer on top and you’ve already got most of the look. Add some red sneakers and light brown hair spray and you’re basically him.

Ibuki Mioda

Going to the completely opposite end of the spectrum, we find Ibuki Mioda. This cosplay is more geared towards musicians or people who have some appreciation for music. The punk rock appearance of the Ultimate Musician is sure to make heads turn.

This cosplay is a bit harder to pull off but the main thing certainly, as with most anime characters, is the hair. Use pink, blue and white hair spray and wear a hairband with cat ears which is quite easily available. After that, even if you can’t match the costume exactly, just wear something super colourful (use pink, blue, black and white) and you’ll nail the look.

Mahiru Koizumi

This is an easy-to-pull-off look, especially for those who are unafraid to speak their mind and love photography. For this look, a Japanese female school uniform would do the trick when it comes to clothes. To bring Mahiru into the real world, however, you need red hair – really red hair. You can also go with her look in the Despair Arc series which is also a school uniform but with a blazer and brownish hair.

Its a big bear. That’s it. That’s Monokuma. The best part about trying to nail this look is that the costume is probably readily available online. You just need to make peace with the fact that you’ll be walking around with a bear face on and your hand-eye coordination might be severely compromised. This costume is for those who think that they can have two very different personalities – a cute side that emanates light and a positively evil side.

Jin Kirigiri

If you have a keen eye for talent and people think you’re extremely picky, you’re basically already Jin Kirigiri. This is another very simple look to nail that only requires you to wear a black suit with a purple tie. Be in a fussy mood while portraying this character (but not really, that’s bad for you) and occasionally use a voice that sounds cheerful because that’s just what Jin is like.

Juzo Sakakura

For all those who have a short temper, Juzo Sakakura might be the perfect look for you. The character is known for his short temper and scary facial expression. Get a jacket that has a fur collar and always look like you’re ready to get into a fight (don’t actually do that though, please) and Juzo will find life in you. Dark greenish hair that fall to your eyebrows are also a plus when trying to nail this look.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru

Kiyotaka Ishimaru who is given the title “Ultimate Moral Compass” should be portrayed by you if you consider yourself to be quite righteous. To look like  Kiyotaka, you’ll need a Japanese style military uniform in white, red contact lenses and drawn on long eyebrows (or fake eyebrows). It is going to take some effort if you’re going for this look but it’ll be worth it.

Hajime Hinata

“I am neither a pessimist or an optimist, I consider myself a realist.” If you believe this is something you’ve thought of and something you believe in then this cosplay is for you. To look like Hajime, you’ll need an ahoge (idiot hair) where a chunk of your hair is sticking out. Unlike Hinata, your hair probably won’t move depending on how you feel but its close enough. White shirt, black dress pants and an olive-green tie are what you need to seal the deal.

Komaru Naegi

Komaru is also one of the main protagonists and is the younger sister of Makoto Naegi. She, like her brother, also has an ahoge and is described as very normal looking. Her look is easy to pull off. All you’ll need is a Japanese female school uniform and an optimistic personality.

To really sell it, however, you can show different emotions and qualities, as Komaru’s personality differs before and after ‘the tragedy’. On one hand, she is optimistic and cheerful and on the other, she basically lives in a world of despair. Komaru Naegi has desaturated green eyes which can be copied by using green contact lenses.

Leon Kuwata

Leon is for all those who can’t sit still and are supremely talented when it comes to sports. A lot of people will find themselves being able to relate to Leon. Leon often slacked off from the things he was supposed to do like studying and baseball practice. Known for being hot-blooded, Leon is accurately given the title “Ultimate Baseball Star”. Leon has dyed orange, spiky hair and a goatee. He also wears a white blazer jacket with a popped-up collar.

The world of Danganronpa is a colourful one filled with eccentric characters. It’s a world that would attract anyone. The world that we live in is one that can certainly take its toll. To some people, it can also be extremely dull. For these reasons, among others, people opt to temporarily live in a world that is completely different and cosplay is a great way to do so.

The very lively atmosphere of the Danganronpa games and television series offers viewers cosplay ideas like no other show or video game. The best part is that there is something for everyone. People can relate to different characters and choose to dress up like them. Even those who aren’t into Danganronpa can make use of its ideas as it contains all sorts of them.
