The Promised Neverland is one of the popular shows in the classic horror setting. While the art style is rather simple than many other Japanese animations, it still has much to offer. From the story setting to the character motives, the show never fails to keep its audience entranced in the life of our protagonist.

With the simple character designs, one may think that this series is not a cosplayer’s first choice. However, that is not true, and many fans have created amazing cosplays to show their love and appreciation. This guide will share some of the best Promised Neverland Cosplay ideas and tips for creating the best look. However, before we get into the details of each character’s appearance, let’s set the mood with some background.

About the Promised Neverland

We start off with an Orphanage, Grace Field Academy, where they raise young children in a cozy, homely environment. Here the children have a caretaker that they all call “Mama.” The kids get along with each other and love their Mama like a true family. The Academy has a tradition that once a child turns twelve, or sometimes even before, they get adopted. However, no child ever maintains communication with the rest of their orphanage family once they set out.

Spoiler Ahead: After the turn of some events, Emma, our main lead, finds out the true horror of what awaits any kid who is “Adopted.” Set in modern fantasy time, this world had a war between gruesome creatures called “Demons” and the Human Race. Unable to fend off the creatures, the Humans came to an agreement.

Humans laid the agreement plan in the academy, where they raised children as food for the demons. The result was to raise children as food, with each child having a field number on their neck. The horrifying contract ended the war, and the children have been living their lives not knowing what awaits them once they are outside. Thus begins the journey of our central trio to escape and help the rest of the children escape their fate.

Without further ado, let’s get into the character details.

Characters You Can Cosplay

Emma

Meet Emma, our endearing protagonist whose life takes a huge turn when she finds out the true nature of the Grace Field Academy. While she exhibits some of the most common personality traits that many main leads have, she is different than the others. Emma is the first female character to be a protagonist in a Shounen Jump. She is an 11-year-old girl with a petite figure and short curly bright orange hair that sticks around at different angles. She also has bright green eyes and a light complexion.

Her field number is 63194. Emma is a cheerful little kid known for her optimism and athletic prowess. She also excels in her studies and has no difficulty achieving straight A’s in all her subjects. At the beginning of the series, she is a kind-hearted, trusting soul. Emma is also shown to have some control over her emotions. A skill she demonstrates when even after discovering the horrors of the Academy, she vows to save everyone and escape to a better future.

Below is a cosplay video by Suzusparkel and her attempt on our beloved Emma.

Norman

Norman is a part of our leading protagonist trio and the genius kid in the Academy. His strategic skills and intelligence rival the deduction skills of adults. Norman is shown to have a calm, relaxed demeanor. Besides his intellect, his physical features also separate him from the average crowd.

He is around Emma’s age and is a pale boy with white hair and a slim build. Norman’s eyes are blue, and he is always calm and keeps a level head no matter how difficult or strange a situation gets. Having a strong mind, he is the fan-favorite of many, and if you want to cosplay as a character that exhibits both intellect and ethereal purity, then Norman is for you.

Ray

Ray is Emma’s close friend and the third character in our main trio. Just like Norman and Emma, he is also 11 at the beginning of the series. However, Ray has a different personality than the rest of the kids at the orphanage. While he conceals his persona rather well, he is later revealed to have a rather calculating and sinister side to him. He is aware of the darker reality of the world and tries to find an escape in his own way.

This twist of character is also depicted in his physical appearance, with him having dark, spiky black hair that covers one of his eyes and falls in spikes around his head. Despite being only 11 years old, Ray demonstrates a maturity that was brought forth due to his past. If Emma and Norman are the Sun and the Moon, then he is Darkness. Being one of the key characters in the show, he is a great choice for those who want to cosplay as a mysterious character.

Conny

Conny Promised Neverland
Conny – Promised Neverland

Conny has a very short appearance in the entire series; however, her role is a pivotal one as it changes the way the main trio sees life. She is described as a cute little girl with light blonde hair styled in two pigtails as well as blue eyes. As she was one of the youngest kids, she was loved by the kids at the orphanage.

One of her favorite belongings was a stuffed bunny that she kept with her the whole time. The fans of the show know of her terrifying future as she is harvested by demons. Conny is an excellent choice for a creepy cosplay as it covers both the eeriness and the general horror theme for Promised Neverland.

Isabella

Isabella is a contradicting character in the series and may not have the most fans. She is the youngest “Mama” and the only one the kids at Grace academy have known. Isabella is one of the few grown-ups in the show. She is shown as a kind lady at first but soon reveals a deeper, secret side that would put anyone back in line as soon as they outstep the boundary. Despite being an orphan herself, Isabella chose to be a Mama to protect herself.

She is tall and wears the Academy’s standard Mama uniform consisting of a white blouse, a black dress, and a white apron on top. Isabella has dark brown hair that she ties in a tight low bun. Her purple eyes initially give her a kind appearance; however, they grow dull when she is not hiding her real emotions. Isabella will be a great choice if you are going for a villainous role.

Krone

Other than the kids, this show features multiple grown-ups, and Krone is a major supporting character. Krone has a rather intimidating physique, darker skin tone, short curly black hair, and dark brown eyes. She keeps a smile on her face when dealing with others; however, sometimes, she is also seen with a creepy, staring expression. This is further explained when it is revealed that her original ambition was to take the role of Mama from Isabella.

Krone - Promised Neverland

While we do not know much about Krone’s past, she is a character that can be fun to cosplay. She has two eras that are shown throughout the series. As an assistant to Isabella, Krone wore a similar dress with her hair in an afro. However, Krone was brought up in the orphanage as a child and wore the same uniform as the rest of the kids. It consisted of a white shirt, a white skirt, and brown boots, just like Emma’s clothes.

Therefore for your own look, you can choose whether you want to cosplay as a kid or a grown-up version of Krone. The key point of her cosplay is the feeling of intimidation she evokes.

Don

Don is one of the kids that Conny was close with. He is a 10-year-old boy with a caring and somewhat impulsive personality. He is one of the survivors who managed to escape from Grace Field Academy. When it comes to his cosplay, Don is a young boy with slightly tan skin and short black hair. His eyes are the same color as his hair and carry the expression of his curiosity and kindness.

Don has a slightly pointy nose and wears the standard orphanage uniform with a black turtleneck and a white buttoned hoodie. He previously had even more, shorter hair with an undercut. Despite being the same age as the other children, Don is slightly tall. His field number is 16194, which is tattooed on his neck.

Gilda

Gilda is one of the high-quality goods considered by the Academy. She is a girl with short dark green hair and olive-colored eyes and wears silver round glasses. Gilda is quiet by nature, and although she is slightly introverted, she shows firm resolve when the situation requires it. She is also quite close with her other siblings, including the main protagonist Emma. In the year 2045, she wore a white sweater, a knitted scarf, white pants, and brown boots. Her orphan uniform is the same as the girls, but she changes her outfit later on.

And with this, we conclude our list of characters of a Promised Neverland Cosplay. The show also has other characters, and many of them have a darker and villainous roles. While the show centers around contradicting and terrifying characters, the place and music also add to the eeriness. Some gruesome moments make this show ideal for horror and thriller-themed cosplays.

For the best theme setup, you can also set the mood for the cosplays in your own way. For example, some fans also extend the cosplay and recreate the orphanage room to complete the foreboding horror feeling of Grace Field Academy.

What You Can Find At Cosplayhero

Wigs

The costumes in Promised Neverland are all quite simple when compared to the general anime standard. It is, therefore, not difficult to recreate or find outfits fitting the uniform criteria. The tricky part of the cosplay is the right color and hairstyle for the hair. Our main protagonist, for example, has this unusual bright orange-colored hair that sticks out around her head.

However, the animation adds yellow and orange in a blend to keep it more colorful. When using a wig, the same lighting effect is challenging to achieve. Nevertheless, many cosplayers have nailed their hairdos using specially designed wigs. At Cosplayhero, you can find wigs for multiple characters and shows. The material is mentioned in the description.

Costumes

Whether you are the same age as the character you are cosplaying or not, you need to have the accurate size for the best visuals. For the uniforms, you need to consider the right measurements. Most of these clothes include the uniform. For cosplay of characters like Isabella and Krone, you can wear the same outfit as they both wear similar clothes. Other than the clothes, you will also need to match the eye color and makeup. For this purpose, it is best to keep the character’s picture as a reference and see what can be improvised.

Accessories

This show does not have many outfits or animation that features many accessories. However, there are props that you can add to your cosplay to complete the look. For example, Conny’s slightly creepy stuffed bunny, although a prop, was a major detail in the show. A simple cosplay with that stuffed teddy is enough to spark horror in the show’s fans. These props are not included in the costume sets, but you can alter or find ones close to the actual thing.
